I’ve been surprised by how many people are wearing solid colors instead of prints on the streets this fall. I love the timeless feel of browns, denim, reds, and grays. Don’t you think a gray sweatshirt is a staple piece you can wear all year round? Jamie Haller makes sweatshirts that are super luxe but fit beautifully. Plus, they’re more affordable, and I really love this soft raglan sweatshirt. Both are hip length, have a broken-in feel, are crew neck so they don’t feel restrictive, and have a soft waist and shoulders that allow them to drape nicely. What are you wearing these days?
Remember the TikTok trend of asking the men around you how often they think about the Roman Empire? (My dad responded, “All the time, baby! All the time.”) Now, Brett Neustrom has some follow-up questions.
What easy dinner do you make on a weeknight? In our house, we make pesto pasta, zucchini soup, and chicken parmesan meatballs as main dishes. I’d love to hear your favorites!
Finally, our newsletter, Big Salad, turns one year old tomorrow. Thank you for supporting this new project. It has meant so much to us. Some of our favorite issues include Ashley Ford’s essay on poverty and taste, my first date after divorce, and Abbey Nova’s garden makeover. To celebrate, tomorrow we’re doing a huge giveaway of 12 of my favorite items (including hag sweaters, food candles, and Sally Rooney’s new book). Also, today at 3pm EST I’ll be doing a livestream talk with my friend Erika Veurink. We’ll talk about friendship, relationships, marriage, sex, and anything else. And of course, you’re welcome to ask any questions you want. For more information or to subscribe, go here. Thank you. xoxo
P.S. More fun, what made you laugh recently?
