Day 7 of our fall New England road trip with toddlers started with a drive through Smuggler’s Notch. It’s a short, very windy drive through some very beautiful mountain passes.
Helpful Tip: Start your drive as easily as possible. The fall foliage season is notorious for traffic jams, so we hit the road at 7am and had it all to ourselves!
We then spent the day exploring nature trails and playing with the animals at @trappfamilylodge, an Austrian-style cabin on 300 acres of farmland in the middle of Stowe.
The von Trapp family, made famous by the film The Sound of Music, fled Austria during World War II and eventually landed in Stowe, Vermont, where their hospitality continues to this day. Did you know that The Sound of Music is one of the top 10 highest-grossing movies of all time??
If I had more time, I would have also added the following:
🥾 Moss Glen Falls
⛪️ Stowe Community Church

☕️ @blackcapvermont
🥞 @butlers_pantry_stowe
Although we could catch a glimpse of the famous Stowe Community Church from afar, we had to battle traffic and large crowds to get closer.
On Day 8, return to the final video of the series to explore a beautiful and family-friendly neighborhood in Boston.
