Gosnee Tread Pizza Oven Review: Gorgeous and Compact

It will be charged as “The World’s Most Portable Pizza Oven”, Goznee Tread is a sturdy, gas-powered beauty for adventure. It is the smallest of the very impressive Gozney series and the second most affordable behind the original Roccbox. It speaks everything from the comfort of the backyard, from the Neapolitan, Chicago style, New York and Sicilians.

On the tread, Gosny hopes we will bring a sourdough calzone with us on our tour. The 16.5″x19.1″x12.6″ measurements are undoubtedly compact for a fully functional pizza oven, with two large handles making it easier to move than most.

Can you compete with the best pizza oven available? Is it portable enough to take with you at £29.7? I spent several weeks investigating both the carb and the trunk.

For all the gorgeous marketing images of deserts, mountains and remote treads, it is worth noting that my review unit has arrived on a full-size wooden pallet. Certainly, Gozney provided me with every extra thing I could think of, but it was still an eye-opening amount of gear for what was billed as “the most portable pizza oven in the world.”

29.7 pounds is roughly the same as SUV tires and a typical 3 year old weight. It’s not too heavy to break, but no one wants to spend time carrying something so troublesome.

The pizza oven is an impressive compact unit and is ideal if the wilderness idea is a tailgator, a parking lot, but you’ll need a gas canister (I recommend a 5-11 kilogram tank), a tripod stand, pizza skin, and all the other trinkets you need to keep your pizza away from home, all the other trinkets you need to keep your pizza away from home.

Looking at the competition, the Ooni Koda 12 (8/10, recommended by Wired) is considerably lighter than the 20.4 pound tread, but also bigger at 24.4 x 15.5 x 11.7 inches. Its lightweight is a consideration when you realize you’re reviewing the editor Adrienne. So, Pizza Ovens can take you to the island of Nakako on a paddleboard, the same size as the Ooni Karu 16 (9/10, Wired Buses).

Ooni’s carry covers are much cheaper than the tread venture bag ($99) and the oven has legs so you don’t need to take the stand. However, if you are heading anywhere on uneven ground, the Gozney stand is much more versatile (more on that later).
