Elsie is a well-proportioned tiny house with a spacious interior suitable for a small family to live comfortably. In addition to plenty of storage space, it includes a novel loft bedroom with a low standing platform that allows the owner to get into bed without crawling.
Indigo River Tiny Homes’ Elsie is 34 feet (10.36 m) long, about the average length for a tiny house in North America today, and is based on a three-axle trailer. Part of Indigo River Tiny Homes’ Homestead Series, it is finished in cedar wood. It also features two external storage areas.
The interior layout looks open and fuss-free for a small home, complimenting the small space available. The home is entered through two French doors opening onto the kitchen. It consists of an oven with induction hob, a sink, a fridge/freezer and lots of storage space including cabinets and a pull-out pantry. There is also a small dining table nearby.
There is an adjacent living room with a sofa bed, entertainment center, TV, and small coffee table. On the other side of the small house is the bathroom. This includes a flush toilet, vanity and shower, as well as a bit of storage space.
Elsie has two bedrooms, both on the upper floor and on opposite sides of the house, allowing for some separation.
The master bedroom is accessed from the living room by a staircase with integrated storage. As mentioned earlier, Indigo River Tiny Homes installs a low platform similar to the one found in the Kereruru Tiny House. This allows anyone up to 1.89 m (6.2 ft) tall to comfortably stand upright to get into bed or get dressed. It sounds like a small addition, but it should make a huge difference in comfort compared to crawling on your lap.
The second bedroom is a standard loft-style tiny house space, accessed via a staircase with integrated storage on the opposite side of the house above the bathroom. This one doesn’t have a lower platform.
The Elsie is powered from standard RV-style hookups, but off-grid options are also available. There is no word on the price of this model.
