The Madeiguinchos of Portugal are once again showing off their woodworking skills with this charming little house named Concha. It features a compact interior that can sleep two people, making it flexible for off-grid living.
Concha is based on a twin-axle trailer and is 5 m (16.4 ft) long. To put this in perspective, it’s almost a third as long as the Pisgah Park Model from Wind River Tiny Homes, and much smaller than the compact Leïla tiny house, also from Baluchon, so it’s perfect for frequent travelers. .
Its design is inspired by Madei Guincho’s previous Brava models, and the overall style is similar. The interior is finished in plywood and has plenty of glass to let in natural light. Due to the lack of available floor space, this studio has rationally kept the layout very simple and open, with the majority of it occupied by a combination of seating, storage and daybed areas.
There is a kitchen nearby. This is very small and basic, but includes a cabinet, sink, refrigerator, and portable electric stove. Elsewhere in this tiny home is a small bathroom with a sink, shower, and composting toilet.
There is one bedroom, accessed by a staircase with built-in storage in the seating area. Unusually, there is actually a window cut into the staircase to maximize light in the bathroom (there will probably be some kind of cover there for privacy). The bedroom itself is a typical loft with low ceilings and a double bed.
Concha is powered by a solar panel array connected to a battery and has water tanks for fresh water and gray water. It’s currently up for sale, priced at a relatively modest 60,000 euros (about $63,000).
