QUIZ: How’s your hair doing these days?Currently, our 9-month-old baby, Emiliano, is in the “grabbing and pulling” phase, so we’re looking for a style that won’t let his hair reach.
For the past year, I’ve been a fan of nail clips (why not wear your hair like Rachel Green? Yes, please). But lately, we’ve been seeing photos of women with slicked buns and romantic twists, with their tops peeking out. A French pin with an elegant curve. Here are a few:
Perfect for a dinner date with a tight twist.
It’s a neat bread that’s perfect for lounging around at home or inviting friends over for a snack.
This soft, tousled twist and untucked ends remind me of Julie Delpy in Before Sunrise.
I was inspired and put a twist on it. It was the second day since my hair had been blow-dryed at the salon, so I wasn’t surprised that all the hair stayed in place. If you, too, want to add smooth twists, blow dry before wrapping and smooth out the waves with a straightening iron. (If you layer and twist your air-dried hair, a few layers will stick out, creating a very messy look.) Here are tutorials for long and short hair.
Next, I tried a topknot. I found that to make it last longer, I needed to hook a pin into the part of the bun above the tail of the bun and then braid the pin straight into the bun from under the tail. This technique holds the hair down. I really like this TikTok video. Step-by-step instructions are provided.
Leave the pin sticking out at the end. Don’t you think the cute pin at the top is also part of its charm? I love this target hold and also have my eye on this cool turtle number.
What are your thoughts? Do you want to wear French pins? I plan on wearing these easy updos all fall.
